South Korea to cap fuel prices as energy costs soar over Iran

SEOUL/TOKYO -- South Korea's president said on Monday that the country would introduce a cap on domestic fuel prices to shield consumers from rising costs caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

With global crude prices soaring past $100 a barrel, Lee Jae Myung told an emergency cabinet meeting that the government would "swiftly introduce and boldly implement" a maximum price system on petroleum products, according to Reuters.
