Apple may launch MacBook Ultra laptops with OLED panels
Apple is reportedly preparing a new high-end MacBook that could sit above the current MacBook Pro lineup. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the device may launch later this year with an OLED display, touchscreen support, and a Dynamic Island-style cutout replacing the notch used on current MacBook displays. The branding is not final, and Apple could still choose a different name instead of MacBook Ultra.
The report suggests this system would expand Apple’s notebook range rather than replace an existing model. That would give Apple a broader lineup only days after it introduced the new MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max on March 3, and the lower-cost MacBook Neo on March 4.

Gurman previously reported that Apple’s first touch Mac notebooks are due in late 2026, with a revised macOS interface designed to work better with both touch input and traditional pointer controls. Pricing is expected to move higher if Apple positions this system above the MacBook Pro. That would fit with the reported plan for a more premium Mac tier, though Gurman has not presented the final product name as settled. At this stage, the OLED panel, touch support, launch window, and top-end positioning should all be treated as reported plans rather than confirmed specifications.
