Gold ROG Astral still belongs to the same investor
RTX 5090 doubled in price, and so did the gold.
ASUS built the ROG Astral Real Gold Edition as a one-off showpiece for Bilibili World 2025, and it looked like a direct continuation of the earlier ROG Astral Dhahab Edition . The Dhahab card was already a gold-themed product, but ASUS lists that model as using just 6.5 grams of 999-fineness gold plating. The Bilibili card moved far past that, with about 5 kg of gold and a total weight reported at roughly 7.2 kg at launch.
Apparnetly, the card was not a disposable event prop. ASUS China later published the full build process through Tony Yu, and as it turns out it was made for a private collector who supplied the gold and ultimately bought the finished card. That means the piece survived beyond the July reveal instead of being melted back down after the show.
It’s now worth $800K, and the RTX 5090 price doubled too
Gold averaged $3,363 per troy ounce in August 2025. By March 5, 2026, the daily price had reached $5,086 per ounce. On that basis, 5 kg of gold went from about $540,613 to about $817,648. That is a gain of roughly $277,035, or 51.2%, in about seven months.

That is unusual by PC hardware standards, but the RTX 5090 market has also moved in the same direction. NVIDIA announced the GeForce RTX 5090 at $1,999 , while currently the card is selling at close to twice MSRP, the ROG Astral certainly does. In other words, both parts of this story moved up, the gold inside the card and the value of the RTX 5090 around it. Tony even made a joke about the memory, but that’s peanuts compared to what we are talking about.
