Did AMD forget about RDNA3 and RDNA2?
In the last few weeks we learned that AMD is working an updated FSR4.1 for RDNA4 series. There were even rumors that AMD bring “AI tab” for older GPUs, which triggered another round of discussion from AMD users. While updated FSR4 is a fact, we still have no official confirmation on possible backporting or optimizing of the upscaling for older GPU architecture, and that is a problem.
On Reddit we find many users are no longer only asking whether FSR 4 will come to older GPUs. The bigger issue is AMD’s silence. Several people said the company has not clearly communicated what is planned for RDNA 2 and RDNA 3 cards, whether FSR 4 variants are still being worked on, or if Redstone-era features will remain limited to newer hardware.

We know FSR4 for RDNA3/2 exists, but AMD stays silent
That frustration is still tied to earlier leaks of an FSR 4 INT8 build , which many users believe proved that at least some form of the technology could run on older Radeon GPUs. AMD never turned that into an official product, and that decision continues to shape the reaction. In the thread, multiple users said trust has been damaged because the company appears to have developed software that could improve image quality on existing cards, but chose not to ship it.
AMD Radeon is stuck in the past
Hardware Unboxed raised a similar point in a recent Q&A. They argued that AMD still seems to approach the GPU market as if raw raster performance is the main factor, even though buyers now also weigh upscaling quality, frame generation, ray tracing, encoding, software support, and other features. That lines up with the current Radeon backlash, where many users are not saying AMD hardware is unusable, but that the company no longer communicates clearly enough about which features matter and where they are going.
There are obviously people who do not use these technnologies, graphics cards are not just for gaming anymore. So naturally some users said they would still buy Radeon cards for Linux support, raster performance, pricing, or because they do not rely on upscaling at all.
AMD should focus on more practical fixes first, including improving current frame generation behavior and shipping the INT8 FSR 4 path for older cards, instead of chasing features like multi-frame generation (something that AMD has not yet delivered, although NVIDIA and Intel already did).
New driver incoming
The original FSR 4.1 leak mentioned that it is part of a new driver available only to Vanguard members, a special group within the driver testing team. It is expected to arrive before Crimson Desert launches on March 19. We will see what it brings and whether there are any changes for RDNA 3 and RDNA 2 users.
