Oukitel RG14-P debuts at MWC 2026 with lid-mounted photovoltaic panel
Oukitel has introduced the RG14-P at MWC 2026 in Barcelona, presenting it as the world’s first rugged laptop with an integrated photovoltaic panel. The company has placed the solar panel on the lid, giving the system a built-in way to collect power in outdoor or off-grid environments.
The RG14-P features a 14.1-inch touchscreen and ships with Windows 11. Oukitel says the system includes a 3000 mAh main battery and a 5200 mAh backup battery. The laptop also supports 65 W fast charging. There’s not a word about the CPU it uses.
Oukitel is positioning the RG14-P as a field-ready system for users who may not always have access to wall power. That could make it relevant for industrial work, outdoor deployments, and remote use cases where extra charging options matter.

Worth noting that this appears to be the first rugged laptop with a photovoltaic panel, but not the first laptop in general to use the idea. Samsung and Lenovo have both experimented with solar-powered laptop designs before, but higher laptop power requirements have likely made such concepts difficult to turn into a commercial success.
The company has not yet shared the full hardware specifications. The launch information does not mention the processor, memory, storage, display resolution, or the actual charging output of the solar panel. I guess it would be possible to run this laptop under the sun at full power, but there’s just one problem: you need to close the lid first.
Pricing and release timing were also not listed in the report.
