According to , Daniels will join ’s fifth season to play “a self-made billionaire and founder of a well-known investment firm.”

The role marks Daniels’ third Apple TV project, after appearing in the currently airing third season of , and narrating the 2021 documentary .

Despite not playing a news anchor, Daniels’ casting in is interesting, as it recalls his role in Aaron Sorkin’s , where his portrayal of lead anchor Will McAvoy rendered him a much-deserved Emmy.

Daniels is also the latest addition of an already star-studded cast, which includes Reese Witherspoon ( ), Jennifer Aniston ( ), Nicole Beharie ( ), Nestor Carbonell ( ), Billy Crudup ( ), Mark Duplass ( ), Jon Hamm ( ), and Karen Pittman ( ).

wrapped its fourth season last November, and Apple has yet to confirm a return date for season 5. When asked recently by The Hollywood Reporter if there was a change of the season premiering in 2026, showrunner Charlotte Stoudt said:

I think so. I haven’t spoken to Apple about any release dates, but between season three and four there was a writers strike, so that was quite a long delay. So without that this year, maybe we’ll move a little more quickly. That’s when I knock on wood!
