RPCS3 plans handheld UI updates

RPCS3 has started asking handheld PC users for feedback as the team works on a better handheld user experience. The emulator developers said upcoming changes include a redesigned in-game home menu, more settings that can be changed without restarting a game, better mapping for the home menu button, and the ability to add games to Steam from within RPCS3. The team did not share a release date.
RPCS3 is not talking about a one-off game fix here, it is talking about usability changes for portable x86 systems such as Steam Deck-class devices and Windows handhelds (note, this is not for Android devices). The current SteamOS flow can still involve Desktop Mode steps, manual game imports inside RPCS3, and external shortcut tools depending on how the user sets up their library.
The Steam integration part stands out the most for handheld use. EmuDeck’s RPCS3 documentation shows that SteamOS users currently rely on Steam ROM Manager, ES-DE, Pegasus, or manually created desktop shortcuts to get games into game mode. If RPCS3 adds native Steam exporting, it could remove part of that setup from the current process and keep more of the workflow inside the emulator itself.
Do you use RPCS3 on a handheld PC? If yes, what emulator features would you like to see added or improved?
We are currently working on improving handheld UI user experience, and we looking for extra feedback and feature suggestions!

For now, this is a feature direction update rather than a launch announcement. RPCS3 is collecting feedback first, and the confirmed items are centered on controller-first navigation, in-game menu access, and easier handheld library management rather than new compatibility claims.
