Framework warns more Laptop 13, Laptop 16, and Laptop 12 price changes may follow

Framework has published another pricing update, confirming higher costs for DDR5 memory, some SSD capacities, Framework Desktop, and select pre-built Framework Laptop 16 configurations. The latest update, dated March 9, says DDR5 SO-DIMM pricing now ranges from $13 to $18 per GB , up from the $12 to $16 per GB range the company listed in its February update.
The company says the latest increase comes from both higher supplier costs and the depletion of older lower-cost inventory. Framework said it continues to use a weighted average cost model, which means some products are still being sold below current market pricing until earlier inventory runs out.
Framework memory pricing timeline

Framework said it has started to deplete its earlier lower-cost SSD inventory and has re-priced some capacities to reflect current purchase costs. The company added that some models, including 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB Western Digital SN850X drives, are still priced below market while that inventory lasts.
The latest update also covers system pricing. Framework said Framework Desktop price changes are smaller than in previous months, but still reflect continued LPDDR5x cost increases. On Framework Laptop 16, some pre-built configurations have now been re-priced after older inventory sold out, and the company warned that remaining pre-built Framework Laptop 13, Laptop 16, and Laptop 12 configurations may also need price changes in the coming months.
