NVIDIA G-SYNC Pulsar gets first firmware update, fixes sub-90 FPS issues

NVIDIA has posted a browser-based firmware updater for its first G-SYNC Pulsar monitors. Firmware version 1.1.4 is available for the Acer Predator XB273U F5, AOC AGON PRO AG276QSG2, ASUS ROG STRIX Pulsar XG27AQNGV, and MSI MPG 272QRF X36. According to NVIDIA, the update adds Pulsar optimizations, removes sharp double images below 90 FPS, fixes the monitor’s FPS indicator when running below 90 FPS, and adds a fixed 60Hz strobing mode for games locked to 60 Hz.
G-SYNC Pulsar is NVIDIA’s attempt to combine two display features that usually force a trade-off. Variable refresh rate removes tearing and stutter, while backlight strobing improves motion clarity, but older strobing modes such as ULMB worked at fixed refresh rates. NVIDIA introduced Pulsar at CES 2024 as a system that combines variable refresh, variable overdrive, and variable-frequency strobing, with the company claiming over 1000Hz effective motion clarity on its first 360Hz 1440p displays.

The rollout took much longer than NVIDIA first suggested. The company unveiled G-SYNC Pulsar on January 8, 2024 and said the first ASUS model would arrive later that year. It repeated that timing at Gamescom on August 20, 2024, when Acer and AOC Pulsar monitors were also shown as products expected later in 2024. Actual retail availability did not begin until January 7, 2026 , so Pulsar reached shipping monitors almost exactly two years after its first reveal.

This arrives as monitor firmware because Pulsar lives inside the display path, not only in the GPU driver. NVIDIA says the first Pulsar displays were built with MediaTek and integrate G-SYNC technologies directly into the display scaler instead of relying on a separate G-SYNC module. NVIDIA also said these 27-inch 2560×1440 360Hz monitors were designed to accept firmware updates through a Micro-B USB port, which explains why the latest changes are delivered through a web tool rather than a GeForce driver package.
NVIDIA says the process requires only a supported browser, a USB connection, and about 5 to 10 minutes, with no software installation needed.
