Chuwi CPU Switchero: Round Two

Chuwi has been caught in the same CPU ‘mismatch’ case again . After the earlier CoreBook X finding, Notebookcheck now reports that the CoreBook Plus is also being sold as a Ryzen 5 7430U system while the tested unit actually carried an older Ryzen 5 5500U . That makes this a repeat issue across two different Chuwi laptop models, not a one-off mistake.
According to Notebookcheck, the CoreBook Plus sample was bought from a German retailer and checked after the CoreBook X case. The media says Windows, software tools, packaging, stickers, and even the BIOS all identified the laptop as a Ryzen 5 7430U system. The real CPU was only confirmed after removing the heatsink and reading the OPN number on the chip, which matched AMD’s Ryzen 5 5500U.

Similar but different
AMD lists the Ryzen 5 7430U with up to 4.3 GHz boost and 16MB of L3 cache, while the Ryzen 5 5500U is a 4.0 GHz part with 8MB of L3 cache. Notebookcheck says the gap can reach up to 20% in testing, and adds that Chuwi’s own store page for the CoreBook Plus still advertises 7430U-class specs including 4.3 GHz, 16MB L3 cache, and Zen 3.

We should also note that after our previous story, Chuwi contacted us and asked for the article to be taken down. There were no legal threats in that exchange. The company also never responded after we asked it to provide a statement we could publish on the matter.
