Rising VRAM costs reportedly force Zephyr to shelve single-fan RTX 4070 Ti SUPER project

Zephyr has reportedly put its GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Sakura Blowing Snow X project on hold, according to a new company update shared by UNIKO’s Hardware . The reason given is a sharp rise in video memory costs and continued demand from industrial buyers. Zephyr now plans to launch a GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER version instead. Earlier this year, the company had said development of the single-fan RTX 4070 Ti SUPER was close to completion.

That makes this a change of direction for one of the more unusual SFF GPU projects shown this year. In January, Zephyr demonstrated the card running at the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER’s full 285 W board power and compared three heatsink types: aluminum, graphene-coated aluminum, and copper. The copper design performed best in Zephyr’s own tests, but only by about 2°C versus the coated version, while also carrying the highest material cost.

A move to GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER would make the product easier to bring to market. Standard RTX 4070 Ti SUPER cards carry 16GB GDDR6X on a 256-bit bus and a 285 W power target, while RTX 4070 SUPER models use 12GB GDDR6X on a 192-bit bus and typically operate at 220 W. That reduces both memory requirements and heat output, which lines up with Zephyr’s claim that the replacement card should be easier to control in terms of cost, temperature, and noise.
Zephyr still has a track record in this segment. The company launched a single-fan GeForce RTX 4070 ITX card in 2024 and later followed it with the CNC-based RTX 4070 Sakura Snow X in 2025 .
