Sony confirms PS5 Pro PSSR 2 rollout starts today
Sony has started rolling out its upgraded PSSR update for PS5 Pro, and the official game list is broader than the one shared on X. In its March 16 PlayStation Blog post, Sony says the latest PS5 system software update adds broad support for the upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, with phased availability starting March 16 at 10:00 PM Pacific Time.
The games confirmed in today’s rollout post are SILENT HILL 2, SILENT HILL f, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Control, Alan Wake 2, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Nioh 3, Rise of the Ronin, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Dragon’s Dogma 2 . Sony says these titles are already adopting the upgraded PSSR, while the optional PS5 Pro system toggle can also apply the newer upscaler to other existing PSSR-supported games.
PSSR is an AI library that analyzes each frame pixel by pixel as it upscales game visuals. With this latest evolution, image reconstruction is more precise, motion stability is improved, and developers have greater flexibility to balance performance and fidelity on PS5 Pro.
Sony also confirmed three more games beyond that group. Crimson Desert will ship with the new PSSR when it launches on March 19, while Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Cyberpunk 2077 are set to receive patches in the coming weeks. That means the X post was only partially correct, because it left out several titles already named by Sony and did not mention Cyberpunk 2077.
Resident Evil Requiem is part of the wider rollout story as well, but not as a newly added March 16 title. In Sony’s February 27 announcement, the company said Resident Evil Requiem was the first game to ship with the more advanced PSSR implementation, ahead of this broader system software rollout. Sony also tied the upgraded PSSR work to Project Amethyst , its technology partnership with AMD.
For PS5 Pro owners, the key change is the new “Enhance PSSR Image Quality” option in system settings. Sony says it can be enabled across current PSSR-supported games, although results may vary by title and the setting can be disabled if visual issues appear.
