DUBAI -- In January, eight Japanese companies took part in the United Arab Emirates' first-ever startup exchange program, pitching their businesses at a government office in Dubai. Although the firms were Japanese, the delegation comprised representatives from India, Turkey, Britain and Saudi Arabia as well as Japan-- reflecting the country's increasingly global startup scene.
