Death Stranding 2 PC build reportedly leaked on Steam ahead of launch

Death Stranding 2 Steam preload mistake reportedly led to full game leak

A pre-release PC build of Death Stranding 2 has reportedly leaked online ahead of its official launch. According to PC Gamer, the issue appears to be tied to the game’s Steam preload, where some users were allegedly able to access unencrypted files instead of the usual locked preload package.

The report says the full 113GB build was available long enough to spread to piracy websites. According to a Reddit post on Piracy, the game was fully playable before release. The title reportedly does not use Denuvo, which would make the leaked build easier to run once the files are obtained.

The pre-release build appears to be missing Russian voice files. Steam allows developers to distribute language packs separately, so this could be tied to how the game data was uploaded rather than the final shipping version.

Anyone using the leaked copy would still miss a large part of the intended experience. Death Stranding 2 relies on online systems that let players share structures and infrastructure such as roads and bridges. Those features would not be available in an offline pirated version.

The official Steam launch is still set for March 19 at 7:30 AM Pacific. That means the leak surfaced roughly two days before release, turning what should have been a standard preload into an early distribution problem for Kojima Productions.
