OptiScaler update brings FSR 4 INT8 support to RDNA 2 on newer Radeon drivers

Community FSR 4 INT8 build for RDNA 2 claims fix for ghosting on latest drivers

AMD still limits official FSR 4 support to its newer Radeon RX 9000 series. The company’s FSR “Redstone” pages say ML-based FSR Upscaling is available on RDNA 4 GPUs, and its supported-games list points to Radeon RX 9000 cards running Adrenalin 25.12.1 or newer.

That has not stopped the community from pushing the feature to older hardware. OptiScaler team has an announcement: specifically for the FSR 4 INT8 build for RDNA2 series, labeled 4.0.2b. According to that post, the update improves the ghosting issue seen on Radeon RX 6000 series cards and is meant to work on the latest Radeon drivers.

Users in the same Reddit discussion say previous INT8 builds could show artifacts on current drivers, while the new package is claimed to remove that requirement. At the same time, comments in the thread also say some artifacting may still remain, so results may still vary by game.

Optiscaler doing AMD God’s work

OptiScaler itself is a modding tool that can swap or inject upscalers in games that already support DLSS, FSR, or XeSS. It can enable FSR 4, but also states that official support is limited to RDNA 4. Of course this is where the leaked ‘INT8’ builds come to play.

There is still no public sign that AMD plans to bring official FSR 4 support to RDNA 2 cards.
