AMD Ryzen 5 9600X hits $182 two days before Ultra 5 250K Plus launch

AMD cuts Ryzen 5 9600X to $181.95

AMD’s Ryzen 5 9600X has been tracked at $181.95 on Amazon US, putting the six-core Zen 5 desktop CPU below Intel’s upcoming $199 rival. Current price trackers list that $181.95 figure on Amazon, even though Amazon’s own product page was not showing a featured offer when checked.

Intel officially announced the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus on March 11, and says retail availability starts on March 26. Intel announced this SKU will launch at $199 for the chip, placing it directly against the Ryzen 5 9600X in this bracket.

In Intel’s materials, the company shows the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus and Ryzen 5 9600X as a tie in gaming. At the same time, Intel claims up to 85% higher Blender performance for the 250K Plus versus 9600X, alongside up to 89% higher Cinebench 2026 multithread performance and up to 103% higher 3DMark CPU Profile Max Threads performance. Those figures come from Intel’s own slide deck and test setup.

That leaves AMD with a lower advertised entry price just ahead of Intel’s launch, by about $17 versus Intel’s stated starting point. Also great to see finally a bit of pricing competition in budget segment.
