Geekbench Browser now flags Intel BOT-capable CPU results

Primate Labs says the Geekbench Browser will now attach a warning to Geekbench 6 CPU results from processors that support Intel’s Binary Optimization Tool , or BOT. The company says some Geekbench 6 workload scores can rise by up to 40% under BOT, while overall scores can increase by up to 8%. Primate Labs argues those runs are not comparable with standard Geekbench 6 submissions, and says it currently has no way to tell whether BOT was enabled for a specific result.
Intel launches BOT
Intel introduced BOT with its Core Ultra 200S Plus and 200HX Plus launches as an optional feature inside the advanced mode of Intel Application Optimization. Intel describes it as a binary-level optimization layer meant to improve IPC and native performance in select games and applications, even when the workload was tuned for another x86 processor, a console, or an older architecture. Intel’s support page says BOT requires Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology and currently works with a short list of titles, including Geekbench 6.3+, which Intel labels as a “Proof of Concept.”

As a workaround, Geekbench Browser now shows this notice on affected submissions: “This benchmark result may be invalid due to binary modification tools that can run on this system.” Intel says the supported CPU list is dynamic. Right now that list includes desktop Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, 250KF Plus, and Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, mobile Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus and Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus, and several Panther Lake based Core Ultra Series 3 chips.

When run under the tool, some Geekbench 6 workload scores increase by up to 40%, and overall scores increase by up to 8%. Since the tool modifies the benchmark, and it is unclear to both Primate Labs and the general public how these changes occur, results generated with the tool are not comparable to results generated without it. In addition, we currently have no way to detect if a Geekbench 6 result was run with or without the Binary Optimization Tool.

The bigger issue for Intel is that BOT is no longer just a gaming feature once a public benchmark lands on the support list. That shifts the discussion from raw uplift to score trust and disclosure. Until Primate Labs can reliably identify BOT-enabled runs, all Geekbench 6 CPU entries from BOT-capable Intel systems will carry the same warning, regardless of whether the tool was actually active.
