Report says Xbox is considering cheaper Game Pass tiers

Microsoft may be looking at cheaper Xbox Game Pass options again. This follows last year’s price increase, which pushed the top tier much higher. According to a report from The Information, cited by GameSpot, new Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma is considering lower-priced tiers. A Netflix bundle was also reportedly discussed.
The main problem is that Microsoft already raised prices in October 2025. Game Pass Ultimate went up to $29.99 per month. PC Game Pass also increased. So even if Microsoft cuts pricing now, that would mostly mean going back toward the old baseline. It would not really feel like a major deal.
© Microsoft Other reports suggest this may not mean the same service for less money. Windows Central linked it to earlier claims about an ad-supported cloud gaming tier. That would give Microsoft a cheaper entry point, but with limits.
One thing is sure, people are tired of stacking subscriptions. One for games, one for movies, one for music, then a few more on top. A combined Xbox and Netflix bundle could make sense, but only if the price is clearly lower than paying for both separately. Otherwise it is just another package with little real value.
Game Pass pricing is already hard to justify for many users, and even more so in developing markets. That is why a cheaper tier could help, but only if it is priced properly. Right now, cutting prices after a steep increase would look more like correcting course than offering something new. And if Microsoft wants bundling to work, it has to be a real discount, not just a different way to charge the same people.
