64GB G.SKILL DDR5 kit now comes with FREE Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU

Shouldn’t this be the other way around?

Instead of buying a CPU and getting free memory, Newegg’s new listing does the reverse. A G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 Series 64GB kit, model F5-6000J3636F32GX2-RS5K, is shown with a “ Free 285K CPU with purchase ” promo attached to the product.

The free processor is Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285K, the top unlocked desktop Arrow Lake SKU in Newegg’s current listing, with 24 cores split into 8 Performance-cores and 16 Efficient-cores. Newegg lists that CPU separately at $593.49 before a coupon code discount, which puts the standalone value at roughly $590.

On the memory side, Newegg search results show the G.SKILL 64GB DDR5-6000 CL36 kit priced at $884.99 with the free CPU promo. The direct product page for the same model currently shows $869.99, so the visible price appears to differ depending on where the item is viewed. The kit itself is a 2x32GB DDR5-6000 set with 36-36-36-96 timings, 1.35V, and Intel XMP 3.0 support.

Using Newegg’s own visible numbers, the bundle math is unusual. A memory kit shown at $884.99 paired with a CPU listed at $593.49 means roughly $291.50 of the price remains after subtracting the processor’s current standalone listing. That does not explain why the kit is priced this high, but it does show how aggressively the Core Ultra 9 285K is being positioned inside this promo.

This looks more like a CPU+memory bundle than a ‘free CPU’ offer, but I’m not sure why it’s shown this way. It definitely looks out of place, and just months ago we were reporting on free memory with CPUs (such deals were often to be found at MicroCenter).
