Samsung's planned response to the Apple iPhone Fold, formally called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, has just morphed from the ethereal to the material, with new CAD renders showing its squat form factor in unprecedented detail.
Now, Android Headlines, in collaboration with OnLeaks, has just published one of the first for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, showing a weirdly squat design. The foldable smartphone is expected to debut this summer alongside the Galaxy Z fold 8.
As per the CAD renders, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is expected to sport the following dimensions:
- Unfolded: 123.9 x 161.4 x 4.9mm
- Folded: 123.9 x 82.2 x 9.8mm
For comparison, here are the expected dimensions of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 :
- Folded: 158.4 x 72.8 x 9mm
- Unfolded: 158.4 x 143.2 x 4.5mm
As is evident from these dimensions, the Z Fold 8 Wide would be noticeably thicker than its taller counterpart, which would be a whopping 34mm taller than its 'Wide' sibling. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide sports a 5.4-inch outer screen and a 7.6-inch internal one.
Interestingly, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will sport a dual camera setup. As far as its internals are concerned, the foldable will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It will also sport a 5,000mAh battery, replete with 45W of wired charging.
Finally, as is expected to be the case with the vanilla Fold 8, the 'Wide' version will sport a noticeably reduced internal display crease.
