Intel’s upcoming Xe-HPG architecture might have just appeared on Geekbench.

A new entry lists Xe Graphics processor with 128 Compute Units, which in this case means Execution Units. Since there are no Xe-LP GPUs with this many core clusters, one must assume that this is in fact the slowest Xe-HPG discrete gaming GPU known as DG2-128EU.

The GPU was attached to a desktop system equipped with an Intel Core i5-11400T processor from the Rocket Lake series. This does not ultimately confirm that the DG2 GPU that was tested is in fact a desktop GPU, as engineering samples of mobile GPUs are also being tested on desktops.

However, what is definitely interesting in this leak is the reported 2.2 GHz boost clock a frequency not normally achievable by integrated GPUs. According to previous rumors, the mobile DG2 GPU might carry a boost clock under 1.8 GHz, which is why it is possible that it could be in fact a desktop DG2 graphics card.

The DG2-128EU is the smallest GPU from the DG2 family, also featuring 384EU and 512EU variants. This GPU is to offer up to 1024 shading units (FP32 cores) and it is likely to compete in the entry-level/multimedia segment with NVIDIA MX400 series and AMD iGPUs on Cezanne APUs.

In terms of performance, the GPU is either really slow or simply not showing its full potential yet. The performance of 13710 points in Geekbench V5 OpenCL tets puts it in NVIDIA GTX 660Ti/Radeon RX 550 series territory.

Intel DG2 family based on Xe-HPG architecture are the upcoming gaming GPU series for mobile and desktop systems. Intel has been reluctant to share details on the architecture, ever since it was announced. Based on the most recent rumors, the DG2 family might launch at CES 2022, however, Intel has recently been busy sending promotional materials, such as t-shirts and water bottles to the most devoted fans and the press that took part in Intel’s Oddysey events in the past.
