MSI promotes Safeguard+

MSI has introduced GPU Safeguard+, a protection feature for its new MPG Ai TS power supplies aimed at 12V-2×6 graphics cards. The company says the feature works with all 12V-2×6 GPUs , regardless of brand, and is designed to detect abnormal current behavior before it leads to connector overheating or damage.
According to MSI, the PSU uses a smart IC to monitor real-time current on every pin of the 12V-2×6 connector. It can detect current imbalance or overload on a single pin, then warn the user through a hardware buzzer and a software pop-up. MSI also says the MPG Ai1600TS tracks per-pin current on its dual native 12V-2×6 connectors.

The software side is handled through MSI Afterburner . MSI says version 4.6.7 and later can manage PSU safety settings, and the PSU can report abnormalities back to the software so GPU power consumption can be reduced immediately.
Users need to enable the “ Enable GPU Safeguard+ ” option in the alarm sensor section. This activates the sound alert and emergency mitigation behavior automatically. On NVIDIA cards, the trigger forces a 75% power limit.
At launch, MSI lists GPU Safeguard+ support on the MPG Ai1600TS PCIE5 and MPG Ai1300TS PCIE5. That means MSI’s compatibility claim applies to the graphics card side, while the protection logic itself remains tied to MSI’s own PSU hardware and software stack.
