AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 now official

AMD has confirmed that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition will launch on April 22. The date was shared by Jack Huynh, SVP and GM of Computing and Graphics at AMD, alongside details on the new processor. This marks the first desktop CPU with dual 3D V-Cache in the Ryzen lineup.
The new processor is based on Zen 5 and features 16 cores and 32 threads on the AM5 platform. AMD states the chip offers 208MB of total on-chip cache, which is higher than any previous Ryzen desktop CPU.

AMD is positioning the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 beyond gaming. Internal data compares the new model against the Ryzen 9 9950X3D in workstation-style workloads. The company lists gains of up to 7% in rendering benchmarks such as V-Ray and Blender, around 5% to 7% in content creation tools, and up to 13% in SPEC Workstation data science tests.
Compilation workloads also show measurable gains. AMD reports up to 5% improvement in Chromium compile and up to 8% in Unreal Engine compile. These results align with the increased cache capacity, which benefits workloads sensitive to memory access and dataset size.

Compared to leaks, AMD has added “Dual Edition” naming, which reflects the use of 3D V-Cache on both compute dies rather than a single CCD configuration used in previous X3D designs.
Pricing has not been disclosed yet.
