GIGABYTE Z890 Plus lineup brings CQDIMM, USB4, and Wi-Fi 7 to selected models
GIGABYTE is now rolling out its Z890 Plus motherboard lineup for Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus processors, with the Z890 AORUS ELITE DUO X positioned as the lead model in the latest availability update. The wider group also includes the Z890 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 PLUS, Z890 D PLUS, Z890 EAGLE PLUS, and Z890 EAGLE WIFI7 PLUS, all of which carry the company’s Ultra Turbo Mode tuning profile.
The AORUS ELITE DUO X is the most unusual in this group. It uses two DDR5 slots instead of four, adds CQDIMM support , and is the only board here built around GIGABYTE’s D5 DUO X memory design. GIGABYTE says this board supports up to 256GB through two 128GB modules, offers five M.2 slots, 5GbE, Wi-Fi 7, USB4, and a 16+1+2 VRM with 60A DrMOS stages. The company also ties its up to 40% performance claim and DDR5-10266 figure to this Plus series launch.

The Z890 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 PLUS is the closest conventional alternative. It keeps the same 16+1+2 VRM design with 60A stages, 5GbE, Wi-Fi 7, USB4, ALC1220 audio, and three full-length PCIe slots, but returns to a standard four-DIMM layout and drops to four M.2 slots instead of five.
Below that, the EAGLE pair uses a 14+1+2 VRM design with 60A stages, four DDR5 slots, four M.2 slots, USB4, and ALC1220 audio. The difference between them is network configuration. The Z890 EAGLE PLUS has 2.5GbE only, while the Z890 EAGLE WIFI7 PLUS adds Wi-Fi 7 on top of the same base platform.

The Z 890 D PLUS is the lowest-positioned board in this set. It drops to a 12+1+2 VRM design, keeps four DDR5 slots and four M.2 slots, and uses 2.5GbE networking without onboard Wi-Fi. It also lacks USB4, replacing it with USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, and lists 8-channel HD audio rather than ALC1220.
Gigabyte has not announced pricing for its new Plus series.
