AMD EPYC Venice samples appear with up to 192 Zen6 cores on Congo, Kenya, and Nigeria platforms

AMD EPYC Venice platform codenames take us to Africa

These benchmark entries are the first solid public hint that some Venice engineering platforms are already running DDR5-8000 . The OpenBenchmarking pages linked in that post show a 192-core Congo system with 8 x 64 GB DDR5-8000, a 128-core Kenya system with 2 x 128 GB DDR5-8000, and a dual-socket Nigeria setup with two 64-core samples also reporting DDR5-8000. These are, of course, codenames for the various EPYC Zen 6 platforms that AMD will start deploying starting this year.

At the same time, the data is not fully consistent yet. Other Venice entries still show DDR5-6400, including a 64-core Congo sample, a dual-socket Nigeria system with two 128-core samples, and another dual-socket Nigeria entry with two 192-core samples. That makes this look more like early platform bring-up than a final product stack or final memory specification.

AMD has already confirmed the key parts of Venice at a high level. The company says Venice is its 6th Gen EPYC server CPU based on Zen 6, it is on track for launch in 2026, and it was the first HPC product brought up on TSMC’s N2 process. Those are the only firm product-level details AMD has publicly attached to Venice so far.

AMD’s listed Helios rack powered by Venice is listed with up to 256 cores and up to 1.6 TB/s of memory bandwidth. AMD and Samsung have also already said they are working together on high-performance DDR5 for 6th Gen EPYC, which fits with the DDR5-8000 memory now showing up in some benchmark entries, even though AMD still has not officially confirmed DDR5-8000 as a shipping Venice specification.
