ASUS PRIME RTX 5080 EVO launched

ASUS has quietly added two GeForce RTX 5080 cards to its PRIME series with the EVO suffix. At first glance, it is not obvious what EVO means here. ASUS has used that label in different ways before, sometimes for revised coolers, different display outputs, or minor clock changes, so this one required a closer look.
On paper, the PRIME RTX 5080 and PRIME RTX 5080 EVO look the same. ASUS lists the same dimensions, the same 2.5-slot design, the same display outputs, and the same feature set across the product pages. Even the clock speeds match on the OC models, which made it look like a simple naming update at first.
Vapor Chamber is missing on PRIME EVO Series
The difference appears to be hidden in the cooler design. ASUS mentions a vapor chamber in the image gallery on the original PRIME RTX 5080 page, but that reference does not appear on the EVO listing. ASUS does not call this out clearly in the spec sheet, so the change is easy to miss unless you go through the gallery images and model labels carefully.
As you can see, the packaging doesn’t even mention EVO. However, if you look closely at the cooler, you will notice the vapor chamber is missing (main image above).

© ASUS As for the specs, both EVO cards still use 16GB of GDDR7 memory on a 256-bit bus at 30 Gbps. They keep one HDMI 2.1b and three DisplayPort 2.1b connectors, measure 304 × 126 × 50 mm, use a single 16-pin power connector, and carry an 850W PSU recommendation. The only listed difference between the two EVO models themselves is clock speed. The PRIME-RTX5080-O16G-EVO is rated at up to 2685 MHz in OC mode, while the PRIME-RTX5080-16G-EVO is rated at up to 2640 MHz.
If you are shopping for a PRIME RTX 5080, you may need to check the exact model label rather than rely on the box design alone. This is sketchy move by ASUS for sure, usually they have no issue adding EVO to the box.
