NVIDIA GeForce NOW 2.0.83 released

NVIDIA has released GeForce NOW 2.0.83, and the update puts Apple Vision Pro in a more visible position than before. According to NVIDIA’s release notes, Ultimate members can now stream on Apple Vision Pro at up to 4K and 90 FPS , which is higher than the resolutions listed for Pico and Meta Quest devices in the same update.
The company is also starting to roll out H.265 video decoding to browser clients on select platforms. NVIDIA says this change will arrive over the coming weeks and should improve streaming efficiency and visual quality on supported systems. That is one of the more important parts of the update, because Apple Vision Pro access still relies on the browser version of GeForce NOW rather than a native app.
NVIDIA’s own Apple Vision Pro support page adds the requirements behind that 4K90 mode. The company says 90 FPS support requires GeForce NOW version 2.0.83 or later, while streaming at 4K up to 90 FPS requires a sustained 55 Mbps connection. NVIDIA also notes that higher resolutions must be enabled manually from the streaming settings.
90 FPS Streaming for Supported VR Headsets
- Ultimate members can now stream at up to 90 FPS on supported VR headsets, delivering smoother and more immersive gameplay.
- Balanced mode: up to 1080p with 90 FPS
- Custom mode: up to 1440p with 90 FPS on Pico and Meta Quest devices
- Apple Vision Pro: up to 4K with 90 FPS
The setup itself remains unchanged. GeForce NOW on Apple Vision Pro runs through play.geforcenow.com in the headset’s browser, and gameplay still requires a supported Bluetooth controller such as an Xbox or Sony DualShock 4 pad. NVIDIA also notes that Vision Pro gestures are not supported as game input during streaming.
Outside of Vision Pro, version 2.0.83 also adds more control over network adaptation, expanded HOTAS support, a customizable in-game overlay shortcut, and a Linux beta display scaling fix. Still, the two changes that stand out most in this release are Apple Vision Pro gaining a 4K at 90 FPS mode, and H.265 support beginning to reach browser clients, which should be more relevant for cloud gaming outside the native app environment.
What’s new in GeForce NOW 2.0.83
More Control Over Network Adaptation
- The improved “Adjust for network conditions” streaming quality setting gives members greater control over how GeForce NOW adapts to changing network conditions. Choose “Optimal Latency” to prioritize responsiveness during gameplay, or “Optimal Quality” to maintain the best possible visual fidelity when network conditions fluctuate.
Customizable In-Game Overlay Shortcut
- Gamepad members can now customize the shortcut used to open the In-Game Overlay. If the default hold Start button conflicts with a game’s controls, simply select a new button combination from a list of available options. To change the shortcut, open the In-Game Overlay > Settings > Shortcuts > Gamepad and select your preferred button combination.
Expanded HOTAS Support
- More peripherals are now supported for flight control games on GeForce NOW. Newly supported devices include: Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, and Logitech X56 HOTAS.
Improved Display Scaling for Linux Beta
- Fixed an issue in the GeForce NOW Linux beta app where incorrect UI scaling detection could cause streaming resolutions to mismatch the display. Streaming resolution now properly aligns with your display resolution for the best visual clarity.
Expanded H.265 Streaming Support for Browsers
- H.265 (HEVC) video decoding will begin rolling out to browser clients on select platforms over the coming weeks. This update can improve streaming efficiency and visual quality for supported systems.
