NVIDIA launches DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and 6X mode through app beta

NVIDIA adds even more AI frames

NVIDIA has started rolling out DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation 6X through the opt-in NVIDIA app beta. The new overrides are limited to GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, and NVIDIA says GeForce Game Ready Driver 595.79 WHQL or newer is required. Needless to say, this update is only for RTX 50 owners, NVIDIA even provided a chart that shows RTX 40 clealry falling behind in supported features.

The new Dynamic mode replaces a fixed frame multiplier with an adaptive system that changes in real time based on GPU load and the display target. NVIDIA says the feature is designed to generate only the number of frames needed to reach a chosen cap or the monitor refresh rate, instead of staying locked to one preset multiplier throughout gameplay.

NVIDIA is also enabling a new 6X Multi Frame Generation mode for supported titles. In that mode, the GPU can generate five additional frames for every natively rendered frame. According to NVIDIA, moving from 4X to 6X can raise 4K performance in path-traced games by up to 35% on GeForce RTX 50 Series cards, with Reflex used to keep latency in check.

This update is still app-driven rather than a full native rollout across every game. Users need to enable beta and experimental features in the NVIDIA app, then use the Graphics tab to select the DLSS override for Frame Generation mode. NVIDIA says Dynamic and Fixed modes now sit side by side, with Fixed behaving like the older manual multiplier options.

Super Resolution has already been available to GeForce RTX users through the app, while Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and 6X mode are the new parts going live today for RTX 50 owners. NVIDIA has also said that more games are on the way, including GDC-announced titles such as 007 First Light, CONTROL Resonant, and Tides of Annihilation.
