Gigabyte shows Z890 AORUS TACHYON DUO X ICE with CQDIMM DDR5-10400 XMP demo

Gigabyte shows (renamed) Z890 AORUS TACHYON DUO X ICE alongside Core Ultra 7 270K Plus

Gigabyte overclocker HiCookie has shown a new Z890 AORUS TACHYON DUO X ICE motherboard in a memory demo. The setup uses Intel’s Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and ADATA DDR5 memory rated at 10400 MT/s via XMP.

The naming is the interesting part here. This board appears to be the same CQDIMM-focused Tachyon model that Gigabyte showed at CES 2026 under the longer “Z890 AORUS TACHYON ICE CQDIMM Edition” name. Back on January, Gigabyte said that CES platform could run 256GB, using two 128GB CQDIMM modules, at DDR5-7200.

The DUO X name would also match Gigabyte’s retail naming from March. Last month, the company introduced the Z890 Plus series with Z890 AORUS ELITE DUO X and Z890M FORCE DUO X WIFI7 as its CQDIMM models. Gigabyte said those boards support up to 256GB with two 128GB modules, and memory speeds up to DDR5-10266, then confirmed retail availability of the ELITE DUO X on March 26. Both DUO X boards are now listed on Gigabyte’s product pages.

This also means Gigabyte already has CQDIMM boards ready for retail market. I’m not sure who can afford these boards now, let alone the memory. Gigabyte has not confirmed pricing yet, but it is safe to assume these boards are for enthusiasts only. Because who else will buy an extreme OC board for a dying platform?
