Alphacool expands AM5 cooling lineup with Apex monoblocks for X870 series boards

Alphacool has started selling its Apex Monoblocks for select AMD X870 and X870E motherboards . The company had previously shown these X870(E) monoblocks at CES, and the current shop lineup now includes models for the Gigabyte X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE, Gigabyte X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7, ASUS ProArt X870E-Creator WiFi, and ROG STRIX X870-F Gaming WIFI. All four are listed at €299.98 and marked in stock in Alphacool’s store.
These are board-specific monoblocks rather than standard CPU water blocks. Alphacool says the design cools the CPU, VRMs, and the M.2 NVMe SSD mounted below the socket, which lets one block cover the main hotspots around the AM5 platform. On the X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE version, the company also integrates an I/O cover into the block design.

The cooling layout follows the same approach as Alphacool’s Apex 1 CPU cooler. According to the company, the block uses an offset cold plate to target the AM5 hotspot directly, paired with its cross-slot structure and 3D Jetplate 2.0. Alphacool also says the block is milled from copper, uses a brass G1/4 terminal, and combines that with a plexi top and aluminum cover.

US pricing is already showing up through retail channels. Performance PCs has the X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE block listed at $346.95, which gives US buyers an early reference point while Alphacool’s own store lists the block at €299.98 in Europe.
I’m not sure who can afford such water blocks, but they exist for a reason. The interesting part is that 3 out of 4 of these blocks cost more than the boards themselves, which is crazy.
