ASRock introduces white L-type 12V-2×6 cable with NTC sensor

ASRock launches white 12V-2×6 cable with green connector, a clean match for RX 9070 XT Taichi White

ASRock has introduced a white version of its right-angle 12V-2×6 cable, model CB-12V2X6L600W/W. The cable is rated for up to 600W, uses 16AWG wiring, supports ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1, and is scheduled to go on sale in Japan on April 10 for ¥6,980 (around $44).

The main detail here is the dual-color design, and it’s not ASRock first such cable . The new cable itself is white, but the GPU-side connector uses ASRock Classic Green. ASRock says the green section is there so users can easily tell whether the plug has been inserted properly. If any of that green remains visible after installation, the connector is not fully seated and should be pushed in until it sits flush with the graphics card.

ASRock is also adding what it calls cable over-temperature protection. The company says the VGA-side connector includes an NTC sensor, short for Negative Temperature Coefficient sensor. That is a thermistor used for temperature monitoring. Its electrical resistance drops as temperature rises, which makes it useful for detecting heat buildup in and around the connector. ASRock says this sensor can send a signal to the PSU to help ensure safe operation.

Of course, this NTC sensor only works on ASRock power supplies.  ASRock’s official page says the temperature-monitoring function is for Taichi and Phantom Gaming series PSUs. The right-angle layout is designed to reduce cable bend pressure near the graphics card, though ASRock also notes that GPU compatibility may vary by model and users should make sure the four signal pins are aligned correctly. The company recommends a 750W or higher PSU.
