Redditor finds rare Radeon RX 6950XT OC Formula at thrift store for $15

$15 Radeon RX 6950 XT OCF works

A Reddit user has shared what looks like one of the better thrift store GPU finds in recent memory. The user posted an ASRock Radeon RX 6950 XT OC Formula bought for $15.49, then later returned with an update saying the card boots. According to the follow-up post, the fans spin, display output works, and the RGB lighting turns on, although the owner has not stress-tested the card yet.

What makes this find more interesting is the exact model. This is not a reference-style Radeon RX 6950 XT, but ASRock’s OC Formula variant, also known as OCF. ASRock lists the card with a boost clock of up to 2495 MHz on the performance BIOS, a 21-phase power design, triple 8-pin power connectors, dual BIOS, and its OC Formula 3X cooling system. Yes, that’s RDNA2 GPU, but still great card, even as a collectors item.

OC Formula was ASRock’s top overclocked branding for this part of the Radeon RX 6000 family. The company used it on cards such as the Radeon RX 6900 XT OC Formula. For newer flagship Radeon generations, ASRock shifted back to Taichi branding instead, as seen on its Radeon RX 7900 XTX Taichi and Radeon RX 9070 XT Taichi cards. The company has not launched proper OCF variant ever since.
