Intel Nova Lake uses Xe3 and Xe3P graphics, no elements of Xe4

Jaykihn clarifies Intel Nova Lake has no Xe4 parts, only Xe3 and Xe3P

As you may recall, there has been some confusion around one of the most important (to us) aspects of the Nova Lake update, specifically its graphics. There are basically two things to remember. First, we already knew that Nova Lake would use Xe3 graphics, but the exact version was not confirmed. Intel then started releasing Linux patches that revealed the platform is actually using two graphics-related architectures, Xe3 and the newer Xe3P, which can be considered the more advanced version.

Jaykihn had earlier mentioned that Nova Lake features an Xe4 media component. The leaker has now clarified that this is not the case. Jaykihn posted a correction to that earlier wording and now says Nova Lake uses Xe3-LPG graphics, with “nothing Xe4” on the platform. He added that the display and media blocks he had previously labeled as Xe4 are actually Xe3P.

Xe3-LPG.

There is nothing Xe4 on Nova Lake. I had previously labeled the display and media as Xe4, but these are actually Xe3p. I apologize for the mistake. https://t.co/AgG00j614M

This, of course, is not news, but it puts an end to one of the rumors. We also reported in November that Nova Lake would use a mix of Xe3 and Xe3P depending on the SKU. That earlier report said most parts would stick to Xe3 graphics, while some variants would use Xe3P blocks.

Nova Lake series is indeed split between U/H/S/HX/UL variants and generally this should be the rule for the GPU support. Most will use Xe3 GPU, while Xe3p will go into Nova Lake-H with a 12 Xe3p config, successor to the upcoming Panther Lake 12 Xe3 version.

In other words, do not expect Nova Lake to use anything of Xe4, it will be a mix of Xe3p and Xe3 basically. Do note that competitor AMD, isn’t planning any substantial updates to its roadmap either. It looks like AMD will use RDNA3.5+/RDNA4m for the mainstream series (Medusa Point) and only reserve RDNA5 for high-end parts.
