According to a renowned film insider, the cast of the upcoming Elden Ring movie adaptation has expanded to welcome actor Nick Offerman .
The rumor was shared yesterday by Jordan Reimy . The insider added that Offerman has already joined the cast on the movie set (which , showing a location from the beginning of the game, the Church of Marika with a Statue of Marika inside). Production should begin this week ahead of a planned 2027 debut in theaters .
Nick Offerman is perhaps best known for his iconic role as Ron Swanson in Parks and Recreation. However, he won an Emmy award (Guest Actor in a Drama Series) for his interpretation of Bill in the first season of HBO's The Last of Us TV series, so he is already well-acquainted with game adaptations. He will also be featured in the upcoming Sonic 4 movie. Offerman previously worked with Elden Ring movie director and writer Alex Garland on 2024's Civil War.
Produced and distributed by indie company A24 , the Elden Ring film is believed to be their most expensive production to date. Other actors rumored to be included in the cast include Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla, Alien: Romulus), reportedly in a lead role; Kit Connor (Heartstopper, Warfare), who should be the male lead; and Ben Whishaw (Paddington, Black Doves, Q in recent James Bond films), who's believed to be taking part in a significant supporting role.
Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin , who first teased the Elden Ring movie back in July 2024 and famously worked on the game's worldbuilding, is also listed as a producer alongside Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, and Vince Gerardis.
It remains to be seen whether the highly cryptic plot of the award-winning game can be appropriately translated to the big screen. In other Elden Ring news, the Nintendo Switch 2 version was recently demonstrated to be alive and well , although there's still no release date.
