AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 officially priced

AMD has now confirmed the official MSRP for its Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition processor. According to a post by David McAfee, AMD’s VP and GM of Ryzen CPU and Radeon graphics, the new flagship desktop CPU will be available on April 22 for $899.
That update clears up the pricing question left open when AMD introduced the processor last month. It also puts earlier retail sightings into context. The price seems high, but they are at least not as high as the placeholder data we covered earlier.

At $899, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 lands $200 above the regular Ryzen 9 9950X3D, which launched at $699. That is a premium of about 29%, and it places the new chip at the top of AMD’s mainstream desktop stack. Worth adding that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D currently retails at $675 on Amazon , so technically that’s 33% higher at launch.

AMD’s product page lists 16 Zen 5 cores, 32 threads, up to 5.6 GHz boost, 192 MB of L3 cache, and a 200W TDP. Total on-chip cache is 208 MB once L2 is included. The processor uses socket AM5, supports DDR5 and PCIe 5.0, and works with AMD’s current AM5 chipsets.
AMD is positioning this SKU toward content creation rather than gaming. The company claims 5% to 13% higher performance, but that gain may be tied in part to the higher 200W TDP, which makes the 9950X3D2 the first X3D desktop part to ship with that power target out of the box.
