Chinese MetaMech launches Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 “Strix Halo” gaming laptop, supports up to 96GB VRAM

MetaMech 16 2026 launches in China with Ryzen AI Max+ 395, 128 GB memory and OCuLink

We have not seen many Strix Halo laptops so far, and even fewer gaming-focused systems. That is surprising because Strix Halo is one of the most interesting APUs on the market. So far, AMD has focused its marketing on AI features rather than the integrated GPU performance that could appeal to gamers.

MetaMech has released its new 16-inch laptop in China with AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395, making it one of the latest systems built around the Strix Halo platform. The system is listed with 128 GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory, 2 TB of PCIe Gen4 storage, and a 16-inch 2560 x 1600 IPS panel with a 180 Hz refresh rate.

One of the main details here is OCuLink support. That is still uncommon on Strix Halo laptops, and it gives the MetaMech 16 2026 a wired external GPU option that goes beyond standard USB4-based eGPU setups. The rest of the I/O also looks loaded, with HDMI 2.1, 2.5GbE, three USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, microSD, and a 3.5 mm jack listed in Chinese retail coverage.

With 128 GB of unified memory on board, the system can reportedly allocate up to 96 GB as VRAM for the integrated Radeon 8060S graphics. That is the kind of setup that targets local AI workloads, large datasets, and GPU-heavy creation software more than typical gaming laptop use.

Pricing in China is set at CNY 22,999, or about $3,365. That puts the MetaMech 16 2026 at the high end of the market, and it is also arriving late for a gaming-focused Strix Halo system, given that the platform launched last January. At this point, it looks like gaming Strix Halo laptops largely missed their window, while AMD appears to have prioritized compact AI workstation designs instead.
