Minisforum to launch NAS with Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 “Strix Halo” and 64GB LPDDR5X memory

MINISFORUM teases N5 MAX AI NAS with Ryzen AI Max+ 395

MINISFORUM has teased its upcoming N5 MAX AI NAS, a new model built around AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395 , also known as Strix Halo. The company says the system will offer up to 126 TOPS of AI performance and 64GB of LPDDR5X memory , which puts it closer to a compact AI workstation than a typical home NAS.

According to the company, the system will s upport up to 200TB through five HDD bays and five SSD slots. MINISFORUM is also listing USB4 v2 at 80Gbps, dual 10GbE, and a multi-fan cooling system, which suggests the N5 MAX is meant to handle storage, networking, and local AI workloads in one box. Full specifications, software details, and pricing have not been shared yet, but MINISFORUM says more information will be released on April 23.

This is not the first time MINISFORUM has previewed the N5 MAX. In March, the company said the system would support local OpenClaw deployment through MinisCloud OS and positioned it as an AI NAS focused on private, local inference rather than cloud-based services.

This may be a proper competition to AOOSTAR WTR MAX, which has just as impressive a configuration but clearly not as powerful an APU (Ryzen 8845HS). I happen to own one, and it’s perfect for Proxmox with TrueNAS. This would definitely bump the virtual machine support with more cores and more memory.
