GIGABYTE Z890 AORUS TACHYON DUO X ICE launched, but no price yet
GIGABYTE has officially listed the Z890 AORUS TACHYON DUO X ICE motherboard on its website. The new model is based on Intel’s Z890 platform and supports Core Ultra 200S series processors. It is designed with an overclocking in mind.
The board uses a 2-DIMM DDR5 layout and adds support for GIGABYTE’s D5 DUO X memory design. GIGABYTE says the board supports memory overclocking up to DDR5-10400 and CQDIMM modules up to 8000 MT/s, with total memory capacity of up to 256GB across two slots. The company describes the design as a combination of CQ-DIMM support, 2-DIMM topology changes, PCB optimization, and BIOS tuning.
Compared to the original Z890 AORUS TACHYON ICE, the DUO X ICE shifts to an 8-layer PCB. The original model is listed with a 10-layer PCB . Both boards keep the same 18+1+2 digital VRM design, with 18 Vcore phases rated at 110A, plus 80A phases for VCCGT and VCCSA.
GIGABYTE also keeps most of the onboard features aimed at extreme overclocking. The official specs list LN2 Mode, Cold Reset, LIMP Mode, OC Trigger, OC Ignition, BIOS switch, voltage measurement points, and separate PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports on the rear I/O. Storage and expansion stay unchanged as well, with four M.2 slots, including one PCIe 5.0 slot, plus full-length PCIe 5.0 x16 and x8 slots.
The company has not yet confirmed pricing. It goes without saying that overclockers who can afford pricey DDR5 memory are the target market for this motherboard. Well, I don’t see many sales here.
