New Metro game rumor points to next week reveal

A new round of Metro rumors suggests 4A Games may be preparing to announce its next mainline title next week, with Metro 2039 now circulating as a possible name. The timing lines up with reports of a Sony State of Play on April 16 , although neither the event nor the game has been confirmed by Sony, 4A Games, or Deep Silver.

The most important part is that only the title and reveal window are rumor. The existence of a new Metro game is already known, because 4A Games confirmed years ago that it was working on the next mainline entry. What remains unclear is whether the project will actually be called Metro 2039 , and whether Sony’s rumored showcase is where it will first appear.

Metro 2039.

Soon.

If the name is real, it would continue the franchise’s timeline-based naming pattern and position the new game as a direct follow-up to Metro Exodus.

Metro has usually been the kind of series PC hardware fans watch closely, because these games tend to arrive with steep GPU requirements and early support for new rendering features. Metro Exodus was one of the first big ray tracing showcases of the RTX era, and 4A later released an Enhanced Edition that required ray-tracing hardware outright. Makes you wonder how the PC version of new Metro game raise the bar even higher.
