NVIDIA denies SemiAccurate claim of PC maker acquisition talks

SemiAccurate published a report claiming NVIDIA was in talks to acquire an unnamed PC company. The report did not identify the target, but the rumor quickly led to speculation around Dell and HP, two of the largest PC vendors with broad enterprise and OEM businesses.
That speculation was enough to push both stocks higher for a time. We also reached out to our own sources after the report appeared. Before we received any reply, NVIDIA had already denied the claim and shut down the rumor.
Nvidia tells CNBC: "the media report is false; NVIDIA is not engaged in discussions to acquire any PC maker."

Dell and HP would have been easy names to attach to such a story. Both companies have large-scale OEM operations, enterprise reach, and deep ties to hyperscale and data center customers. On paper, either could have given NVIDIA a direct path into more parts of the PC and commercial hardware market.
NVIDIA’s denial came quickly, and there is no public evidence that any such deal is being discussed, although the report claimed the talks have already taken a year.
NVIDIA is expected to introduce its N1 laptop chip series in the coming weeks , likely around Computex. That gives the company another reason to stay in focus, but it does not change the fact that this takeover claim has already been denied.
