Intel may bring 12 Xe3P graphics to desktop with new Nova Lake SoC SKU

Intel reportedly considers Nova Lake desktop SoC with 12 Xe3P graphics, gaming-focused chip without discrete GPU

Intel has reportedly already updated its preliminary list of desktop SKUs we revealed this wekeend . The company may be preparing a desktop Nova Lake SKU with a much stronger integrated GPU than its usual socketed desktop parts. Leaker Jaykihn posted a preliminary configuration listed as “ 4+8+4+12 Xe3P desktop SKU ,” alongside a note saying the chip would require two VCCGT VRM phases. If accurate, that points to a desktop SoC-style part with 4 Coyote Cove P-cores, 8 Arctic Wolf E-cores, 4 low-power E-cores, and a 12-core Xe3P graphics block.

Intel has shipped capable integrated graphics in mobile parts before, but desktop chips have not been the company’s main platform for larger iGPU designs. A Nova Lake desktop part with 12 Xe3P graphics could give Intel a product closer in concept to AMD’s Ryzen G-series, which brings stronger onboard graphics to desktop systems that do not need a discrete card. The leak should still be treated as early, because Jaykihn described the SKU as preliminary and did not share clocks, memory details, or any performance targets.

The idea is not far-fetched given what Intel has already shown with Panther Lake. Early third-party testing of Panther Lake’s Arc B390 iGPU showed a large step up over prior Intel integrated graphics, with results that outpaced Radeon 890M in several checks and in some cases approached lower-power GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU configurations. Nova Lake is also expected to use Xe3 and Xe3P graphics blocks rather than any Xe4 graphics design, based on earlier leak coverage.

Intel Next-Gen Core AX and G series

This rumor also fits into a wider Intel iGPU story that has changed over the past year. Earlier reports pointed to a much larger Nova Lake-AX concept, a chip that was said to pair up to 28 CPU cores with a far bigger integrated GPU and a wide memory interface. Later reporting said that project had been paused, which suggested Intel would not bring that AX-class design to market in the Nova Lake generation after all.

As we covered recently, newer leaks now point to Razer Lake-AX as Intel’s next attempt at that class of product instead. That makes this new Nova Lake desktop rumor more interesting. It would not be the giant AX design that earlier leaks described, but it could still give Intel a gaming-capable socketed desktop chip for small systems or low-cost builds that skip discrete graphics.
