ONEXPLAYER X2 Mini is larger than OneXFly Apex

ONEXPLAYER has started teasing the OnexPlayer X2 Mini, a new handheld built around AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395. So far, the company has only confirmed the Max+ 395 variant and an 8.8-inch OLED display with native landscape orientation. A short teaser also says the device is coming soon, but ONEXPLAYER has not shared pricing or a full specification sheet yet.
This will be ONEXPLAYER’s second handheld based on AMD’s Strix Halo lineup. The company already launched the OneXFly Apex, and its official store lists both Ryzen AI Max+ 395 and Ryzen AI Max 385 variants. That gives ONEXPLAYER two handhelds in the same product class, with the X2 Mini appearing to expand the lineup rather than replace the Apex.
The naming is a bit confusing this time. The OneXFly Apex uses an 8-inch display, while the new X2 Mini moves to an 8.8-inch panel, at least based on what ONEXPLAYER has confirmed so far. In other words, the new “Mini” looks larger than the company’s existing Strix Halo handheld, at least in screen size.

As for features, the X2 Mini has detachable controllers and a keyboard attachment. Users can turn the system into a small laptop or a portable display. These features are similar to those offered by Lenovo’s Legion Go systems.

The timing also puts the X2 Mini against Lenovo’s Legion Go 2 , which uses the same 8.8-inch class and has recently drawn attention for sharp price increases. Lenovo’s own US listing shows the Legion Go 2 Gen 2, while recent coverage tracked the 2TB Ryzen Z2 Extreme model at $2,849.99 on Lenovo’s store. If ONEXPLAYER can price the X2 Mini more aggressively, it could end up as a direct alternative for buyers looking for a large-screen premium handheld.
