Microsoft pushes Surface Copilot+ PC prices higher, flagship models hit $1,499

Apparently one of the wealthiest companies in the world thinks that paying for 1y+ old Surface series equipped with Snapdragon X1 series is worth 50% more than at launch. That’s just shortly before the company is said to introduce the X2 series.

Microsoft has raised official U.S. pricing for its Snapdragon-based Surface lineup, with the biggest jumps hitting the flagship Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 models. Microsoft told Windows Central the move is tied to higher memory and component costs , and current Microsoft Store listings now show the 13-inch Surface Pro starting at $1,499, the 13.8-inch Surface Laptop at $1,499, and the 15-inch Surface Laptop at $1,599.

Microsoft introduced the first Copilot+ PCs on May 20, 2024, with retail availability starting June 18 and a starting price of $999. According to Windows Central’s pricing breakdown, the Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 13.8-inch both launched at $999, while the 15-inch Surface Laptop 7 started at $1,299.

Since launch, the Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 13.8-inch have both gone up by $500, which is about 50%. The 15-inch Surface Laptop 7 is up by $300, which works out to about 23%. Microsoft had already pushed entry pricing higher in 2025 by removing cheaper launch configurations, but the latest increase adds another $300 on top for the 13-inch flagship models.
