Alienware AW2726DM launches at $350 with 1440p 240Hz QD-OLED panel, but only 200 nits

Alienware AW2726DM is a $350 1440p 240Hz QD-OLED monitor with 3-year burn-in warranty

Alienware is preparing a lower-cost QD-OLED gaming monitor, the AW2726DM, with a reported MSRP of $350 and April 21 availability. That would put it below many current 27-inch OLED gaming monitors, including sale pricing on some competing 1440p 240Hz models.

The AW2726DM uses a 26.5-inch QD-OLED panel with 2560 x 1440 resolution, up to 240 Hz over DisplayPort, and a quoted 0.03 ms gray-to-gray response time. Dell’s documents also lists AMD FreeSync Premium, VESA AdaptiveSync, HDR10 support, 10-bit color, and 99% DCI-P3 coverage.

The monitor is rated for 200 cd/m² typical brightness and a 1.5 million:1 typical contrast ratio. It also has two HDMI ports, but HDMI tops out at 2560 x 1440 at 120 Hz, while full 240 Hz support requires DisplayPort 1.4.

Alienware is also shipping the display with a fully adjustable stand. The stand supports 130 mm of height adjustment, tilt from -5° to 21°, swivel, and 90° pivot in both directions. Dell also says the monitor includes anti-burn-in protection and backs it with a three-year OLED burn-in warranty.

The 200-nit brightness seems really low, and the HDMI limitation to 120 Hz is worth mentioning for console users or anyone planning to avoid DisplayPort. Even so, a $350 QD-OLED from Alienware could put more pressure on the 27-inch 1440p OLED segment if that price holds at retail.
