AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 appears for pre-order in China ahead of April 22 launch

AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 has now appeared on Chinese retail channels ahead of its April 22 launch. Retail listing details published today point to sales starting at 21:00 local time on April 22, with a pre-sale offer that lets buyers put down a 100 RMB (around $15) deposit that counts as 300 RMB toward the final payment. AMD had already confirmed the processor’s April 22 availability and $899 US MSRP last week.
The 9950X3D2 is AMD’s first desktop Ryzen processor with 3D V-Cache on both CCDs. AMD lists the chip with 16 Zen 5 cores and 32 threads, a 4.3 GHz base clock, boost clocks up to 5.6 GHz, 192 MB of L3 cache, 16 MB of L2 cache, and a 200 W TDP. It remains an AM5 part and supports current 600-series and 800-series chipsets, so this is a drop-in upgrade for existing AM5 systems with the right BIOS support.

Not aimed at gamers
AMD is not presenting this SKU as a gaming-first part. The company’s own product messaging describes the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 as a processor for developers and creators, while AMD’s broader 3D V-Cache page continues to place the Ryzen 7 9850X3D as the gaming-focused flagship. AMD has even released new benchmarks for various workloads, none of which are gaming related.

The Chinese retail material also appears to include extra AMD performance charts that were not part of the earlier pricing reveal. According to those retailer-page benchmarks, AMD is claiming up to 63% higher performance than the Ryzen 9 9950X3D in SPEC Poisson and up to 26% in OpenFOAM, while other listed gains land in the 6% to 13% range. These are AMD-provided numbers shown on a retailer page, so they should be treated as vendor claims until independent reviews are published.
No preorders in the US/EU yet
The processor has already been listed by several stores, but if we look at the largest US retailers, there’s only B&H Photo. It had the SKU listed at $949 for a few days, but the price has now leveled at the official MSRP of $949. $899. The CPU is not yet available for preorder.
