MSI accidentally announces GeForce RTX 5070 12GB Laptop GPU in new Crosshair 16 Max spec sheet

MSI GeForce RTX 5070 laptop with 12GB VRAM, GPU spec which does not officially exist

MSI may have just added another piece to the GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU 12GB story . In the spec table for the new Crosshair 16 Max HX E2WGXK, the company lists the graphics with such memory configuration, which, as we know, is not official.  That is unusual because NVIDIA’s original GeForce RTX 50 laptop announcement said the RTX 5070 Laptop GPU would ship with 8GB of GDDR7, while the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU would carry 12GB.

Interestingly, the spec listed by MSI only mentions the 5070 12GB variant, while the product pages list 5070 8GB and 5060 8GB options. The new spec appeared in an official press release shared today.

MSI may have published a new RTX 5070 Laptop GPU variant before NVIDIA formally updated the SKU list. The company may be using a region or model-specific configuration. Or this could simply be a spec table error. For now, MSI has not added any note explaining the difference.

This is also not the first vendor-side reference to such a SKU. Earlier we covered ASUS and Lenovo pages that briefly listed an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 12GB GDDR7, and Lenovo later appeared to confirm that memory configuration again for several 2026 models.

As for MSI’s machine itself, the Crosshair 16 Max HX E2WGXK is listed with up to Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, a 16-inch 2560 x 1600 OLED panel at 165Hz, up to 128GB DDR5 memory, two M.2 slots, and a 240W adapter. MSI also says the Crosshair 16 family can deliver up to 200W of combined CPU and GPU power.
