AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 surfaced on eBay a week ahead of launch

Ebay seller lists AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 ahead of April 22 launch

An eBay seller briefly listed AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 ahead of its official April 22 release. AMD confirmed that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition launches on April 22 at $899, so the listing appeared before the chip is supposed to be available through normal retail channels. The CPU is, however, already available for preorder in China .

The listing has since ended. Based on the screenshot, eBay showed 0 bids and no recorded sale through the platform, even though the page also included a $580 Buy It Now option. That does not rule out a direct deal outside eBay, since buyers could still contact the seller privately.

Not a boxed edition

The heatspreader clearly shows the full Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition branding, along with visible product and batch markings. If those markings are real and unique to that chip, they could make it easier for AMD or its partners to trace where the unit came from.

The packaging also does not look like a normal retail unit. Instead of a consumer box, the CPU appears to be sitting in a simple plastic tray. That is closer to how tray or OEM processors usually move through the supply chain, which suggests this part may have been intended for a system integrator or another partner channel rather than standard retail sale.

One thing is clear, whoever was selling the unit, it was not supposed to happen this early and definitely not at this price.
