Intel may launch another Raptor Lake Refresh for LGA1700 in early 2027

Intel planning yet another Refresh of Raptor Lake

Intel may not be done with LGA1700 just yet. A new rumor from leaker Jaykihn claims Intel is planning another Raptor Lake Refresh, with the goal of extending the life of its long-running desktop platform beyond the current 14th Gen Core series. The rollout is expected in early 2027.

LGA-1700 alive but also dead

Jaykihn is clearly saying that this is very preliminary information, and that usually means it may just as quickly disappear from roadmaps. So perhaps we are doing Intel a favor by sharing this with you so Intel can gather feedback on whether such an LGA-1700 extension even makes sense to anyone. But we can argue that Intel overslept on the DDR4-compatible platform life expansion already. Bartlett Lake-S series which many expected to drop for the consumer market, was exclusively used for networking/edge, which was quite disappointing. Who knows whether in 2027 we will have the same need for platform extensions as we do have now, when DDR5 memory pricing is skyrocketing?

No, new generations don’t inherently exclude socket support, and Intel is similar to AMD overall for planned socket support.

For example, Intel is planning another Raptor Lake Refresh to extend LGA1700. This socket support longevity is akin to AMD’s practices on AM4.

Raptor Lake Refresh Refresh

The rumored refresh is said to keep the LGA1700 socket and continue using Intel’s own Intel 7 manufacturing process. Jaykihn also reportedly said there will be no Core i9 SKU in this lineup , which points to a more mainstream stack rather than a full top-end refresh. That could mean Intel is preparing lower-tier or OEM-focused parts instead of a full retail launch with unlocked flagship models. Perhaps they are not even planning any SKUs for consumers, just for businesses.

In a recent interview with Club386 , Intel VP Robert Hallock said Raptor Lake is “not going anywhere” and will remain “abundantly available.”
