AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 listed on Amazon for $999 ahead of April 22 launch
AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition has appeared on Amazon US with a $999 pre-order price. That is $100 above AMD’s announced $899 MSRP. AMD says the new flagship AM5 processor launches on April 22.
AMD positions the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 as its first desktop processor with dual 3D V-Cache. Official specifications list 16 Zen 5 cores, 32 threads, a 4.3 GHz base clock, up to 5.6 GHz boost, 192 MB of L3 cache, and a 200W default TDP.
According to Tom’s Hardware , AMD has not changed the MSRP, but they have no power over retailer pricing. I guess they were not encouraging them enough.
Meanwhile, Newegg and B&H Photo Video have also listed the same processor, but without a live price or pre-order button. That suggests US retailer pages are going live before launch, but not all stores have enabled full ordering yet.
Hopefully the $999 price is not the final price; otherwise, we might be looking at AMD’s most expensive desktop processor to date (correct me if I’m wrong).
