Early ROG Equalizer user test shows lower 16-pin temperatures

What appears to be one of the earliest public user reports on ASUS’s ROG Equalizer cable has surfaced on Chiphell. The user says the cable came bundled with a newer batch of the ROG Strix 1200W Platinum PSU. ASUS has already confirmed that ROG Equalizer bundles are rolling out in Q2 2026 across select ROG Thor III and ROG Strix models, and that included accessories may differ by production batch.
According to the post, the user tested a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5090D AORUS Master ICE under a 600W FurMark load . They compared a ROG Thor 1200W II using its stock cable against the newer ROG Strix 1200W Platinum bundle with the ROG Equalizer.
In that comparison, the GPU-side connector temperature reportedly dropped from 59.8C to 50.7C. The user also says the gap from the 16-pin reading to nominal 12V improved by about 0.04V.

ASUS says the ROG Equalizer is designed to balance current across the connector, reduce uneven load between pins, and keep temperatures under control in sustained 600W scenarios. The company also says the cable is compliant with ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1.
User claims Equalizer-equipped PSU was $14 more expensive
ASUS says newer PSU batches that include the ROG Equalizer will have adjusted retail pricing , but it has not published a fixed surcharge by model or region. According to Chiphell users, the standard 1200W ROG Strix PSU at RMB 1,599 and the bundled Equalizer version at RMB 1,899, which would imply a RMB 300 gap, around $41. The original poster also says ASUS customer support told them the standalone cable may go on sale in May for around RMB 100, or about $14.
